Line of Beauty 2026: Young Masters Valentine’s Art + Jazz Fundraiser | 12 February 2026

Cynthia Valianti Corbett has that rare kind of sparkle: the gallerist who makes art feel alive & the jazz singer who absolutely owns a room. I still remember the first time I heard her sing live & even filmed the show. It was at Hideaway Jazz Club in London, October 2013, and I was completely amazed… totally in awe.

Next Thursday 12 Feb, she’ll be doing both in one night at The Exhibitionist Hotel (just 6 mins from the V&A). Cynthia will be taking to the mic with a live band and if you’ve never seen her on stage, this is your moment. Come for the jazz & also come see my latest work.

Estelle Lovatt, FRSA leading UK art critic and art historian, author and lecturer came to the show and wrote this, and I’m still holding it like a lucky charm: “In a league of her own, Cristina Schek’s incredible visual adventures embrace life, beyond life. Piloting artistic vision between reality and imagination I’m calling Surreal Neo-Romantic Universalism. Questioning what’s factual by what’s make-believe, Schek bends Einstein and Newton, making her new artwork fairytales for grownups.”

‘The Ceiling In The Sky’ at Phillips BFAMI Auction | 30 January - 5 February 2026

In the meantime, The Ceiling In The Sky has entered a new chapter: one of the limited-edition works currently on show at The Exhibitionist (in the shutter frame) and a sister print from the same limited edition has been donated to the BFAMI 2026 Art Auction and will be on view at Phillips during their public preview. It’s also the second time my work will be shown at Phillips (the first was November 2022), and I can’t wait to see this year’s curation.

Before 2026 fills up with obligations, expectations and noise, there’s a small but powerful window to pause and set an intention for the year. For me, it’s making work and sharing it with the wonderful people who’ve been part of the journey.

I’d love to invite you to Line of Beauty, the Young Masters People’s Choice Award Winners Exhibition and my biggest show ye , set inside one of London’s most art-loving hotels: The Exhibitionist, South Kensington. Thank you again for voting for me, you made this real. I’m honoured to have received First Prize, and I’m sharing the show with the wonderful painter Alexandra Baraitser. Our work is in conversation throughout the hotel and I can’t wait to welcome you.

This exhibition follows a milestone year for me: in 2025, I was awarded First Prize in the Young Masters People’s Choice Award (sponsored by The Brownhill Insurance Group) and was Highly Commended for the Rudolph Blume Foundation Acquisition Award. These honours mean a great deal to me, the People’s Choice reflects the public’s belief in my work, while the Rudolph Blume Foundation Award places my art within a remarkable Houston collection.

Our journey now gathers shape in Line of Beauty at The Exhibitionist Hotel, with a Private View on 15 January 2026, followed by a Valentine’s Young Masters Fundraising Jazz Concert on 12 February 2026. I hold special memories of exhibiting at the beautiful Exhibitionist Hotel, where art meets luxury in Kensington...

and I’m thrilled to return to a space that’s been part of my creative story. My connection to this initiative runs deep, from winning the Young Masters Focus on the Female: Art Created During Lockdown Award (2021) for Florence Lightingale, to exhibiting Alice at the London Art Fair: Focus on the Female Edit (2022), and seeing works from my Couchsurfing series enter a major photography collection.

This upcoming exhibition feels like a full-circle moment and I look forward to sharing it with you in 2026.

As Miami Art Basel Week opens, I’m grateful to return to Art Miami for my fourth year with Cynthia Corbett Gallery - Stand AM100, in a landmark edition celebrating both the gallery and the fair.

There’s no better place to unveil my new series, Glamarines, than under the Miami sun. This body of work revisits my early divers as glamorous swimmers rising between water and sky, a graceful ascent celebrating beauty, strength and the joy of being. Click the button below to view the curation.

As a beautiful start to the week, one of my divers has already found a new home ahead of the fair; a collector chose it as a birthday gift to themselves, which feels like one of the most wonderful compliments an artist can receive. Video Debut in Basel: ART IN MOTION, Kunstmeile Basel, 16 November – 31 December 2025

I’m delighted to share that, although I’ve been working with video for many years, my recent presentation of moving image within the Digitalism platform at Saatchi Gallery opened a new chapter in how I show this work publicly. Building on that momentum, I am now part of ART IN MOTION, an inspiring new digital art project presented at Kunstmeile Basel in collaboration with brilliant Sheisinblack.art and AVGD Gallery.

This inaugural edition brings together artists currently showcased at Kunstmeile Basel, celebrating video art through short vertical loops displayed on a large public screen in the heart of the city, free, visible 24/7 and seen by over 2,000 visitors each day. Warm thanks to Manuela and the team for making this project possible; I’m thrilled to have my moving-image work now presented in Basel.

At the same time, I'm delighted to debut Glamarine (2025) at Stand 17 with Cynthia Corbett Gallery as part of the Young Masters Art Prize. This new series revisits my earlier divers, but here the figures rise from the sea in a weightless ascent. These glamorous swimmers lift toward the light, suspended between water and sky, pausing for a breath of air, a moment that celebrates beauty and the pure joy of being.

I am very grateful and excited to share that I’ve been selected as one of the ten artists featured in 10 Years: A Decade on Artsy x Cynthia Corbett Gallery, a landmark online exhibition celebrating the gallery’s ten-year collaboration with Artsy.

It feels like such a privilege to be part of this milestone moment. Since 2014, Cynthia Corbett Gallery has built a vibrant, global presence on Artsy, and this summer’s showcase brings together ten Gallery and Young Masters artists whose practices span modernist silkscreen, radical ceramics, vibrant textile art, lyrical abstraction, Pop Art, figurative painting, and conceptual storytelling. To be included in this company is truly an honour.

Young Masters: Focus on the Female 2025

I'm so excited to be part of Focus on the Female 2025, a celebration of women in the arts in honor of Women’s History Month. This exhibition holds a special place in my heart, as it brings back memories of winning the Young Masters Focus On The Female Art Created During Lockdown Award 2021 for my piece Florence Lightingale, which is now included in this year's curation. Additionally, my work Alice was showcased at the London Art Fair, Focus on the Female Edit, and two pieces from my Couchsurfing series were acquired by a serious photography collector in 2022.

Feltham Station Gallery | Public Art Project

It was an absolute pleasure to get involved in another public art project, this time working with the brilliantly creative Year 8 students from Springwest Academy. Together, we embarked on a photographic journey titled "See Beyond the Ordinary" where we explored kaleidoscopic images created in-camera (no Photoshop involved!). The project was inspired by the idea of seeing beauty in the unexpected and finding patterns in the ordinary world around us.

The students and I had a fantastic time during the workshop, experimenting with angles, light, and perspective, all while learning how to bring new dimensions to everyday scenes. It was such a fun and rewarding experience, and I’m so proud of the students' incredible work that now brightens up the Feltham Station Gallery.

As spring is upon us, it feels especially fitting that the gallery space has bloomed just like the students’ work. The exhibition, as part of the Station Gallery’s year-round programme, is now on display for the local community to enjoy. It's been wonderful to see the creative energy of these young artists on show for all to experience!

Thank you to Feltham Arts, Camila Aguais, the Springwest Academy and Tom Gallahue for making this all possible. It’s always an honor to contribute to the vibrant public art scene and to support the incredible talent of the next generation of artists.

Auction Record: The Art of Exposure | 31 Jan – 1 Feb 2025

Morphets of Harrogate is hosting something historic. Photography, often seen as the younger sibling of the art world, is stepping into its own; loudly, boldly, undeniably.

At the end of January, my photography will feature in The Art of Exposure auction at Morphets of Harrogate (31 January – 1 February 2025), a sale dedicated entirely to photography. This marks my second auction record, following the one at Phillips, London, in 2022. Morphets connects clients across Yorkshire and the North with buyers worldwide from their saleroom and offices in Harrogate. I’m so excited to share my work with new audiences and collectors through this incredible platform.

'Diving Upwards' Series

"Everything real begins with the fiction of what could be. Imagination is therefore the most potent force in the Universe. Imagination is 'Diving Upwards'! And you can get better at it. It's the one skill in life that benefits from ignoring what everyone else knows. Over the long term, the future is decided by optimists. To be an optimist you don’t have to ignore the multitude of problems that arise, you just have to 'Dive Upwards' and imagine how much your ability to solve problems improves."

Can't wait to show some of my latest work at the MAS Autumn Art Fair, held at St Alban’s Primary School, East Molesey. These new works, never before seen by human eyes, are a celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Surrealism! Join me Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 5pm.

I'll be presenting 'Surreal Objects of Desire' 15 miniature artworks elegantly framed like jewels, celebrating 100 Years of Surrealism. Inspired by André Breton’s Cabinet of Curiosities - a legendary collection that dared us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary - each piece in this collection is a portal to the blurred lines between reality and imagination.

Elmbridge Moving Art @ Robert Phillips Gallery | 25 September - 20 October 2024

Thrilled to announce that my work 'The Ceiling in the Skyscrapers' is part of the 'Elmbridge Moving Art' exhibition at the Robert Phillips Gallery, Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre from 25 September to 20 October 2024. This beautifully curated show by Ele King showcases over 80 local artists, and I’m thrilled to be part of it. Many of the selected artists are part of the prestigious Molesey Art Society, making this exhibition even more special!

The first piece in the series 'The Ceiling in the Sky' was unveiled as Winner of The W4th Plinth (see 2nd part of the video) and now this new work explores the towering city skyline, where architectural marvels echo human creativity and ambition.

Digital Art Award 2024

Thrilled to receive the DIGITAL ART AWARD from the prestigious Molesey Art Society for my work 'Ceiling in the Sky'! This piece had its 4x4m physical form showcased last year as the winner of the W4t Plinth, and now its digital side is being recognized. Couldn’t have come at a better time, as I’m finding myself drawn even more to digital art.

And a huge shoutout to the British Art Fair and their new platform PIVOTAL: DIGITALISM, brilliantly curated by Rebekah Tolley Georgiou—a real highlight of my visit to the Saatchi Gallery! Society of Portrait Sculptors 'FACE 2024' Morris Singer Fine Art Foundry Awards

It was an absolute honor to serve as a judge for the Morris Singer Fine Art Foundry Awards at the FACE2024 exhibition, hosted by the Society of Portrait Sculptors. Alongside my fellow judge, Donald Smith, we had the privilege of reviewing exceptional works from incredibly skilled artists worldwide.

Huge congratulations to Rufus Martin, whose exquisite piece Sofia earned the top prize, and to the highly commended artists Bart Janssen, Louise Solecki Weir, and Tristan MacDougall. Truly remarkable work and a testament to the enduring beauty of portrait sculpture.

'Emotional Contortionism' Selected at Arts Richmond Photographic Exhibition 2023: ‘Turning Point’ 15th - 28th May 2023 at The Exchange in Twickenham

'Emotional Contortionism II' has been selected for the Arts Richmond Photographic Exhibition 2023: ‘Turning Point’ in conjunction with the renowned Roger McGough Poetry Competition. The exhibition is open from the 15th to the 28th of May at The Exchange in Twickenham.

'Emotional Contortionism' is a series of self-portraits that defies conventions, playing a visual trick on the viewer without the use of Photoshop. I've chosen to organically blend and twist perception, just as we twist and turn in the dance of our relationships. This series mirrors the intricate exploration of thoughts and emotions, contorting our very being. As we go through the natural ebb and flow of life, the hope remains that we bend, but do not break.

Within the visual illusion lies a profound narrative. In each frame, the woman embraces an invisible figure, formed of a coat and a tall hat hanging on a photographic monopod, while using her own hand inserted through the sleeve to create the illusion of an external embrace. This artistic expression symbolizes the inherent unity within oneself, the embrace of one's own complexities and contradictions. It serves as a gentle reminder of the importance of self-acceptance and inner peace, nurturing a harmonious relationship with oneself as the foundation for fostering harmony and connection with others. Through this lens of self-embrace, we cultivate a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness, weaving threads of empathy and compassion in the fabric of our shared human experience.

‘Ceiling In The Sky’ (4x4m) Unveiled as Winner of W4th Plinth

Borrowed from the Fourth Plinth concept in Trafalgar Square - The Chiswick W4th Plinth is a rolling programme of temporary public art curated by Abundance London since September 2019. The first artwork to be displayed was a collage of music hall entertainers at the Empire Theatre, by artist Sir Peter Blake, a long time Chiswick resident. Every six months the large image, 4x4m, on the TfL brick wall of the railway embankment at Turnham Green Terrace will change, showcasing an exciting artwork, short-listed by Abundance London and voted on by the public. “We had thousands of votes for the W4th Plinth, a fitting response as we had so many hundreds of submissions, and we are very excited about our winner.”

The W4 Fourth Plinth was unveiled by Dame Siân Phillips on 23rd April 2023.

My appreciation for the people involved in this project and the tremendous work they do goes beyond words. Thank you so much, Abundance London for making it possible for my work ‘The Ceiling In The Sky’ to be seen on such a scale and by many people over the next six months.

It was a delightful experience presenting Dame Siân Phillips with a limited edition gift print from 'The Ceiling In The Sky' as a celebration of her 90th birthday. Dame Siân Phillips is a remarkable Welsh actress, renowned for her captivating performances, such as the title roles in Ibsen's Hedda Gabler and George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan; she is also remembered for her compelling portrayal of Livia in the 1976 BBC television series I, Claudius. Additionally, her connection with Peter O'Toole, her husband, and their joint appearance in the beloved film 'Goodbye, Mr. Chips,' adds a special layer of fondness for me.

"We are delighted to announce that ‘The Ceiling in the Sky’ by Cristina Schek has been unveiled by Dame Siân Phillips as the new W4 Fourth Plinth. Borrowed from the Fourth Plinth concept in Trafalgar Square, The Chiswick W4th Plinth is a rolling programme of temporary public art curated by Abundance London since September 2019. The first artwork to be displayed was a collage of music hall entertainers at the Empire Theatre, by artist Sir Peter Blake, a long time Chiswick resident.

Abundance London, who organise the choice and delivery of the community art works, received nearly 500 submissions from artists to show their work this time, which the jury whittled down to just 15. The 12 which met the technical requirements for the space were put to a public vote. "We had thousands of votes for the W4 Fourth Plinth a fitting response as we had so many hundreds of submissions, and we are very excited about our winner." the judges said. Find out more here.

Delighted to exhibit 'The Magi of Fitzrovia' a work which takes as source material Fitzrovia itself.

As many already know, Fitzrovia was the centre for London’s Bohemians in the 20s with artists such as Virginia Wolf, Bernard Shaw, Dylan Thomas, Vita Sackville West.... ”who lived in squares and loved in triangles”. Over the centuries Fitzrovia has been suffused with the avant-grade artists (Augustus John, John Constable, Nina Hamnet, Vanessa Bell, Whistler, Walter Sickert, Ford Maddox Brown, Euston Rd School of Artists, Wyndham Lewis), writers (Quintin Crisp, Dylan Thomas, George Orwell, Virginia Wolf, Pauln Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, George Bernard Shaw, Ian McEwan), political writers (Thomas Paine, Edmund Burke) musicians (Pink Floyd at the Ufo club, Bob Dylan made his London debut there, Jimi Hendrix played a gig there, Coldplay formed in Ramsay Hall).

First recorded when it was a wild wood back in 1000AD, Fitzrovia was the fertile forest floor from where the creations of many artists could grow tall and strong, reaching up to the sky.

Within this piece, we go back in time to that pure wild wood that will eventually be urbanised and populated by some of the greatest creative minds in history. Within the canopy of the forest, we can see projections of their future imaginations. One such imagination that inspired me in particular is Ian McEwan’s, aka ‘The Magus of Fitzrovia’.

Arts Richmond Tent at St. Margarets Fair : 2 July 2022

Delighted to be part of the 43rd edition of The St Margarets Fair, where I'll be showing three works, courtesy of the Arts Richmond. Come and enjoy a fantastic day out, during the height of summer at Moormead Park.

Open Studios | Leigh Gallery (11/12 and 18/19 June 2022)

It's been a while since we've had Open Studios. The last one was in 2019, when my work ‘Fern Boy’ was chosen as cover artwork for the Richmond Art House Catalogue, and now, Artist Studios are opening again for two weekend during 11-12 & 18-19 June 2022.

To celebrate the return of this amazing nationwide initiative created to support the work of artists within the local community, a newly created work ‘Fern Girl’ (sister of Fern Boy) will be making her appearance.

I will be showing work alongside brilliant printmaker Sue Roe at Leigh Galley in Hampton Hill ( 3 New Broadway, Hampton Rd, Hampton Hill TW12 1JG) – VENUE 33 in the Festival Brochure. Download a copy of the trail map here.

Visits are free and we look forward to seeing you. Works of art are for sale, but there is no obligation to buy, the focus is on enjoying your visit. Opening times 11am-5pm.

London Art Fair (20 - 24 April 2022), showing with The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, Stand 5

I am delighted to announce my debut at London Art Fair with The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, which has been invited to present a special curated exhibition in the main section of the Fair. Thanks to the Gallery’s long-standing relationship with LAF, we will be showing in a prime location, Stand 5, directly across from the Fair’s museum partner, the New Hall Art Collection at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge: the largest collection of modern and contemporary art by women in Europe, and the second largest in the world.

I am honoured to be included in Focus On The Female: London Art Fair Edit, a continuation of a vital curatorial initiative developed through the internationally recognised Young Masters Art Prize to support women artists in the precarious post-pandemic landscape. This all-woman presentation brings together sixteen artists, Gallery-represented, Young Masters alumnae, and invited voices, in a powerful showcase reflecting the diversity, resilience and innovation of contemporary women artists.

This invitation holds particular meaning for me, as a past Young Masters prizewinner, recipient of the Focus on the Female: Art Created During Lockdown Award (2021), and I am deeply proud to return within this context, among such exceptional women, continuing a narrative that champions female creativity, visibility and artistic legacy.

‘Climate KAOS’ Exhibition at Kingston Museum (10 Sept 2021 – 26 March 2022)

Thrilled to share that the ‘Climate KAOS’ exhibition is now open at Kingston Museum, where I am showing two works, two very different artistic responses to the urgency of climate change. It is always an exciting and humbling moment to see my work in a museum space, especially here, in a place that houses the remarkable collection of Eadweard Muybridge (1830–1904), the pioneering photographer whose studies of motion helped shape the very language of moving images.

Such a discovery (!!) I had no idea he was born here in Kingston. Muybridge revolutionised visual culture through his sequential photography and his invention of the Zoopraxiscope, one of the earliest motion-picture projectors. To exhibit in the same institution that holds his legacy feels profoundly meaningful, a reminder of how images, then and now, shape the way we see, move, and respond to the world.

Kingston Museum houses one of the most important Muybridge collections in existence, including original glass slides, pioneering motion studies, and the very equipment that helped set cinema in motion. Standing in a space so deeply connected to the origins of moving images, while showing work about our shared future, feels like a quiet conversation across time, between invention and imagination, past and possibility.

This wonderful curation had been made by women – with women – for everyone to appreciate and enjoy. An initiative supporting women artists was more than timely and important as the pandemic affected women disproportionally more than men.
